Golden Children

Sound Installation & Data Visualisation

In the work Golden Children, I have visualised the data of slave trading from 16th to 19th century with each colour represents a country involved and each ball represents 100 vivid lives.  In the space, there is also a kinetic sound installation making rhythm out of heavy hammer percussion. And these balls, these lives, with their sweat and tears have geared up the Big Wheel to move forward and to progress.

Nowadays, slavery trading has been abolished, but has the exploitation and injustice really ended? Are we still living in a Golden Age? Are the golden children still enjoying their golden opportunities and privileges?
