How do we relate to the world?
In our current time, we are disconnected from the origin of our food. We see food and the world as an object, not as a connection, which can lead us to an abusive consumption of resources and exploitation of as well as human and non-human beings. OtherWise and Weaving Realities invite you to take part in a participatory and performative cooking event to re-connect with the world and its resources. Three guests from Mexico, Mayra Telumbre, Diana Laura Rodriguez and Fernanda Franco, will join us to the making of two ancestral recipes originated from Abya Yala, non-colonized America: Chilate (rice and cacao) and Tortillas.
This will serve as an introduction to ancestral knowledge about people’s relation with food. By sharing the food and drink together, we will open a space for dialogue within our bodies and share stories of remembrance. By doing so, we celebrate the lives and struggles of women in resistance to the colonial and patriarchal system.
